how do I stop all internet activity NETGEAR _ WPN824v3 router? Lets say I want no activity from 10am to 6pm (like I don't want the kids to be able to get on the net at those times.) Is there a way to do this?

Private P replied: "If it has a power switch turn it off or unplug it. It will work fine after you plug it back in."

Tom replied: "Yes, buy a Linksys 5 port switch, a network cable (short one should do), and a 24 hour timer. Connect the kids' network cable into the switch and connect the switch's uplink to your internet router. Use the timer to turn off the switch at 10pm and back on at 6am Or, you can just use the timer on the router if you want to stop ALL internet access."

Niklaus Pfirsig replied: "I am not familiar with that router, but most routers have an internal firewall that allows you to use MAC filtering and set the times during the day when the Internet is available on a computer by computer basis. You will need to get all MAC addresses as some computers will have separate ones for the wired and wireless connections."

how do i open my ports on Netgear WPN824v3? i went there i did all the steps and it still doesnt work when it says Please enter the static ip you want to forward to: 192.168.1. my static ip is 10.0.0.24 its not 192.168.1. when i add the port thing in my router it still doesnt work

Mochi replied: "Make your IP of your server computer static via the router. This will require you to find the MAC address of the desktop and configure it with an available IP address in the routers interface. Head over to the DMZ zone of your router and input that computer IP. Doing this will forward any server requests to this computer. This includes ALL the active ports of this desktop. You are essentially allowing access to this dekstop by removing it from the firewall protection of your router."

I cant change netgear wpn824v3 routers settings? i was setting some options on my router from routerlogin.net then out of the blue my router stopped alowing me to change settings...i even restored a backup config and i still have the same problem...reset does not take me to original settings no matter how long i hold it...

JM~ replied: "Have you tried directly connecting to the router by opening your browser and typing 192.168.0.1 into the URL box? (If that doesn't work try 192.168.1.1) I'm sorry, I'm not familiar with routerlogin.net I've always used the default gateway to connect."

Netgear WPN824v3 will wireless be enable after hard reset? Hi, just wondering whats the default setting for netgear wpn824v3 netgear router, i wanna do a hardware reset, although, im using wireless connection to my desktop, if i reset my router will the wireless be available for default? rephrase it, if i reset my router will i be able to access my router via wireless? or do i have to use the port? thanks! ps: most netgear router are the same, anybody with same series should be the same, please help thanks!

Nasrudin H replied: "If you would like to reset to the default or manufacturer default then you have find back of your router a reset button. Then you have to configure again because the default does not know your configguration or your wireless card or your network."

Joey replied: "I have reset several different Netgear wireless routers over the past few years. When you perform a hard reset you will still be able to access the internet wirelessly. But note that if you have your wireless internet password protected the hard reset will void the password and open up your wireless internet for anyone to use."

How do I open a port with a Netgear RangeMax Wireless Router WPN824v3? Okay, I'm trying to open a port for Warcraft III and I went to portforward.com and it says enter your static ip 192.168.1.___ but when I check my ip it's 10.0.0.2. How do I change my ip to match that? Is my ip supposed to be that? Help! Thank you!

10" PP replied: "go to 'run' and type cmd a will pop up, type ipconfig /all scroll up to default gateway, write that down, it will be something like 192.168.1.1 or something. Then write down the IPv4 which is your ip. Type that into your browser, where right now it says blach blah then it will bring you to the router menu, from there you should be able to set your ports from something called virtual servers, or something."

hosting private server with NETGEAR WPN824v3? how? okay so i got another computer hooked up to the netgear router and i dont know how to host a server(using a different computer, im using a wireless USB adapter), i want to host my runescape private server which is using a 43594 port(i already opened that already), and dont tell me that trying to do this is wrong and just play real rs, i dont care what you think!. if anyone can help me i would greatly appreciate it! :)

Bill C replied: "in your router go to the section where your virtual servers are and set the internal ip and port address to your server PC There should be a list of available options or you can do a manual configuration. Sometimes it's easier to get a straight webserver running (port 80) just as a test machine and to give you a better idea of how it all works. Ok, so u have a different wireless computer. Does it connect to the internet via the same router? If yes, it should show the ip address of the wireless computer in you router. here's the flow from the internet to your server internet - > router - > server pc xxx 192.168.1.1 192.168.1.2 In the router set your port forarding to the ip address of your server pc. the above is only an example. adjust the ip addresses to your actual network. Here's a tutorial on it. Substitute Limewire for your game server"

Port Forward will not work. Netgear wpn824v3.? I have set up a static ip address and currently have a few open ports. They show up as connected and those work fine for connecting to my games and what not. Now I can't open anymore ports. AND PLEASE DONT POST A GUIDE TO PORTFORWARDING.COM AND NO I KNOW MY ROUTER CAN SUPPORT MORE OPEN PORTS. Also another note when I change setting for the router it takes FOREVER. sorry about the caps lock but it seems everyone thinks going to portforwarding.com will fix everything. ok to clarify I still have 3 more ports I can open so like I had previously included that I guess people missed.... that is not the issue. Thanks anyways. =)

annorax64 replied: "It sounds like you have exceeded the total number of port forwards that you're allowed to create on your router. I suggest using a range of ports instead of a bunch of separate entries. You might even consider making your gaming machine a DMZ machine instead."

RA replied: "This sounds like a firmware problem (e.g. Firmware 1.0.7 did not save certain values, the long time it takes to update the configuration may indicate a memory limit). First, try upgrading or downgrading the firmware level. If this doesn't help, try configuring custom firmware with the Open Source tools available from Netgear at (unfortunately, there is no support for the wpn824v3 in DD-WRT)"

netgear router wpn824v3 set up help? i have a macbook pro and i'm trying to connect wirelessly. earlier today, i manually set it all up and got on to the internet just fine. i went to routerlogin.com and tried to change the network name, but it told me to "wait a moment" for like twenty minutes. i called netgear and got some lady that didn't understand what i was saying, and kept trying to tell me how to set it up and asking what lights were on. i hung up when she transferred my call to someone trying to sell me a warranty on my computer. now, i can't even get the open wireless network i had before. does anyone with a macbook have a netgear router, too? or can anyone help me? thank you so much in advance. hi eric.. if you're still reading, how can i make it so that i can get on wirelessly? i'm online using a wire right now.

Eric P replied: "i have a netgear router, wpn824 v2 but i f***ing hate macs. Open up internet explorer or in your case safari i guess. Type in the at the top where you put web addresses 192.168.1.1 type admin as username and password as password (unless you changed those). You then can access the innerds of your router, set up security etc... please not to do this you must use an actual ethernet cord to connect to the router and cannot do this wirelessly"
